Migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003
We are in the process og migrating from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003.  Before we go through this process I was wondering if there was a method out there to use to determine how many mailboxes or the total size we can migrate within an 8-hour window.  What we are trying to do is to let our client know that these users, such as those on mailbox store #1 or users with last name beginning with A - D will not be able to access their mail from 11 pm to 6 am.

Software/Hardware used:
Windows 2000/Exchange 2000 upgrading to W2K3 and EX2K3

Answer Wiki:
There isn't any "norm" that can be given to you for these timeframes. Your network and xfr rates will vary due to many variables. Xfr time does depend on size of mailbox, so all you can do is perform a test. Try moving four mailboxes, maybe resources or test mailboxes and document how long that takes. You can move 4 per move command (the 4 will move consecutively within one move command window), but you can open several move windows at a time on the 2003 Exchange server. Try moving 3 or 4 move windows concurrently if you have that option.
