Is there a problem with just moving the mailboxes using the move mailbox command? How many mailboxes are in the database?

To migrate servers, you might want to try copying over the mailbox store file and renaming it on the new server. It is a lot faster if you are working with a lot of mailboxes.

If you live outside the United States, by submitting your email address you consent to having your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States.
I wouldn’t recommend just moving the mail store database when you are going from one system – exchange 2007 to a different system – SBS 2008. Moving the mailboxes would be best.
SBS 2008 is the operating system. Exchange 2007 standard is what SBS 2008 uses for email. If you is using Exchange 2007 standard currently, all you need to do to make sure moving the mailstore file works, is to have the same Exchange patch level on both machines.
Mailstore file moving is a standard network engineering proceedure for Exchange which they don’t teach you in text books.
