Answer Wiki:
Search your old computer for *.pst files, when you find them transfer them to the new computer. Open outlook on the new computer, goto 'File', go down to 'Import / Export', select 'Import from another program or file', down the list is 'Personal Folder File (.pst)' select this, and follow the directions, you can import messages, and setings.

Make sure you copy the folder or file you saved to the desktop and then try to import it.

you tried to ‘convert’ the Outlook folder. Convert it to what?
Is the PST still part one of the information services set up in Outlook? If not, what message do you get when you add it? If so, what message do you get when you try to access it?

There are utilities out there for managing pst files. You can get password strippers (which effectively export the data to another file format, then import back to a pst), as well as using the old standby: The Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe – you may need to find an older OL2K or earlier version to get this utility.)
