Microsoft Outlook will only let me work offline
I'm trying to setup Microsoft Outlook after just installing a new modem in my computer. I already have an Outlook account, but Microsoft Outlook is telling me I have to work offline. Is the new modem affecting Outlook? How do I get back into my old account? The setup option is not presenting itself and I really need to get my email back up and working.

Answer Wiki:
Because you switched to modem, do you have both dial/up and an always on internet line. If this is the case u may need to disable either or to access some internet features. ********************************************* probably your modem is being sensed by the outlook but it is not getting any internet access and thus giving this alert. try removing and uninstalling the modem and check if you are able to work in outlook properly. are you getting the same message with modem on or off? check if you are able to take the backup of your .pst file, if yes, do it immediately to save your important mails and addresses.

Check your account settings by going into the control panel and selecting the mail icon (in classic view). Check the properties of your profile. If the modem is the only thing you have changed I don’t think any of these settings would have changed though, but check them to make sure. Can you get to the internet?
