Hi,

I want to migrate a couple of users, computers and groups from an Windows NT 4.0 Domain to Active Directory (Windows 2003 NATIVE MODE Domain). The migration is not for the entire NT Domain, is only a group of users and computers from this one. I had used ADMT on a single forest to reorganize objects between domains on the same Active Directory Forest. I know that ADMT is a tool used too to make migrations from NT to 2000 or 2003. I am trying to use this tool from the NT Domain to the Active Directory Win3K Domain and it is not possible. Error: Access Denied. Some body have experience with this tool? I am not sure if part of the trouble is the NATIVE MODE on active directory. I also made two-way domain leven trust relationship between both domains (source and destiny) but I receive access denied error each time. I am not sure if the tool is able to ask for credentials for both domains on the migration process. Becouse is not possible (I think) have a user account with domain admin privelegies on both domains, becouse domain admin is a Global Group.

With the W3K domain in native mode, sad to say, the NTLM hooks that NT needs to transfer object info are turned off — so ADMT is not likely to work for you.

Would the ADDUSERS list export utility for NT and the LDIFDE utility for AD meet your needs? Passwords, group memberships, and permissions would have to be recreated separately.

I am sure the problem is with the USer. Make sure that the user you are using to Migrate to Win2k3 have Enterprise Admins.I’ve seen this problem before and when the user was given Enterprise Admins it worked fine.
