Hi,

In a web page meta data tags are officially page tags which lies between the start and close head tags. In the metadata section you will add many tags like:
Title Tag
Description Meta Tag
Keywords Meta Tag
Other Meta Tags
Robots Meta Tag
The Charset Tag
By using these tags you will easily optimize your web page for a search engine.

Welcome to ITKE, ptnaveenraj! Metadata summarizes basic information about data (author, data created, file size, etc.), which makes it easier to work with particular instances.

From an algorithmic point of view, meta tags help search engines decide which results are relevant to show users who have typed in a search query.
