message count exceeds error message in Exchange 2003


Exchange 2003, Message Count, SMTP, Exchange error messages

We are getting following error message intermittently, kindly let me know how to fix this error,
can we change count from 20 to any higher number. Will this have any impact. Will the change on once servers virtual server will afftect the other exchange servers in the organisation.

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
#5.5.0 smtp;552 : your message counts in one session of 22 exceeds maximum setting 20>

You can change the count of messages allowed per session on the exchange virtual server for that server. That will afect only the server you make the change on. If the other servers are not getting this error then you do not need to make the change.
Open Exchange Systgem Manager, expand administrative groups, then your administrative group. Expand servers, then your server, then protocols, then SMTP. Right-click your SMTP virtual server, choose properties, then go to the messages tab. Change the "limit number of messages per connection to" whatever value you want it to be, or even disable it by unchecking the box. That will remove all limits for that selection.
