Memory L3 cache resources missing after v5r4 upgrade


AS/400 upgrading, V5R2

Hi

we are running 870 model with v5r2 and 8 partitions. recently after upgrading 2 partitions to v5r4 , following resources show not installed/ not identified.

Main Storage L3 Cache ? 25F1-000 Not installed MC01
Main Storage L3 Cache ? 25F1-000 Not installed MC02
Main Storage L3 Cache ? 25F1-000 Not installed MC03
Main Storage L3 Cache ? 25F1-000 Not installed MC04
Main Storage L3 Cache ? 25F1-000 Not installed MC05
Main Storage L3 Cache ? 25F1-000 Not installed MC06
Main Storage L3 Cache ? 25F1-000 Not installed MC07
Main Storage L3 Cache ? 25F1-000 Not installed MC08
Capacitor Card ? 274F- Not installed PW01AP

any ideas ?
they still show ok on primary and remaining v5r2 partitions.

Part of the issue I believe is that the Primary LPAR on the 8xx boxes can only be n+1 or n-1 from the OS residing on the rest of the LPARs. If the Primary LPAR is not V5R3 to allow V5R2 n-1 and V5R4 n+1 to function correctly then strange things will happen.

If your primary LPAR is not at V5R3 then you need to make it so immediately so the other LPARs function properly.

On 8xx models, P-1 upto P+2 are supported as long as primary partition is V5R1 or later.
I got this from IBM infocenter.

If the primary partition is running V5R1 or later, you can install and run the following releases on the secondary partitions, provided that each release is supported by the server model:

The release before the release on the primary partition (P - 1)
The release on the primary partition (P)
The release after the release on the primary partition (P + 1)
The second release after the release on the primary partition (P + 2)
