Uninstall w2k pro and SP4 and then all patches (make sure you use the Uninstall option)
Then install Media Player and
then install w2k pro, SP4 and the patches again
good luck

Are you upgrading from another OS?

Assumption that you are upgrading to w2k from older OS.

If you uninstall w2k, sp4 and all other patches as per solution of Rita, then you will be left with the older version of the OS and the media player along with it.

I feel you should install w2k first. Media Player is included in it. Install sp4. Upgrade the media player from online update and then install all the other patches. This should work.

New installation - follow the same procedure listed above.

Hi,But if I uninstall W2k pro I won’t have anything because it is just my OS and I it’s not upgraded version from another OS,First I installed W2k pro as OS then SP4 and other patches and then online installation Media Player from windows update site!!!
If I repeat this procedure then I think same problem happens!! Don’t you think so?
Thank you.

Hi Mahnaz,

What I had written was that you install w2k and sp4. Media Player will get installed with your w2k installation.

Upgrade the player to the latest version desired BEFORE you install / apply all patches.

This is what I had suggested. Try it. I think it should work.
