Q:
Measuring Software Development
I would love to learn your best practices for measuring software development. Both project measures and how to measure development activities. Also, if you use agile development methods, do you use different measures and, if so, what specifically do you use? Thank you.

As per agile each project is divided into small sprints and each sprint is measured by success stories. Everyday standing meeting is conducted to discuss the planned successes versus actual. Each delay is analyzed and is tried to cover up by fastening the process. No new sprint is started unless previous sprint is closed. Testing is involved right from scratch. And equally involved is the customer.

About everyday meetings, I must say that I really try to avoid them, and have these meetings as necessary, or in established but longer intervals. This is a risk, but in order to get this to work for us, we have created a culture in which we make a crime for somebody not telling the project manager that he/she is getting problems to meet the established schedule on a given activity.
