Q:
mc132.ocx or mci32.ocx
I have a program I did in visual basic 4, after adding the custom control Microsoft Multimedia Control, everyone seems the get this error, I’ve not seen it yet, but they all seem to get it, it something like Custom control 367mc can’t load control, and it seems the be this mmc that I added for sound, it all works on my pc. But not any one else’s, I’ve packed the .dll file with the install, so that’s not it they used this program before adding sound and it worked for all who tried it, but now only seems to work on my PC. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue and why it works on my pc? Thanks.

Software/Hardware used:
my O.S. is XP

Hi again Carlosdl,
Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you on this issue, but I’m still waiting my self for someone to let me know, and they seem to be pretty busy, but was told I’d here something today. Later on today. Please don’t give up on me with this quest, for I have to get it resolved or I can’t release my game.

Ok, Carlosdl,
Sorry for taking so long, believe me, it was not my doing, but anyways, it’s the real world and so we go with the flow of it. Here’s the whole error.
Run-Time error ‘367′:
Can’t Load [or register] Custom Control: ‘MCI32.OCX’
or it Might be : ‘ MC132.OCX ‘ but its prob. ‘MCI32.OCX’
Thanks for your assistance.

Carlosdl,
I think it’s the mci.vbx file located in Windowssystemmci.vbx
so I added that to my install program and then the person that went to my web site and down loaded it, did not reboot after the install, “too tired” and went to bed. I’m thinking this is the case that if they just would have rebooted it might have worked. What do you think? I know if I wait long enough I’ll find out, but I’m just curies and really want to know what the problem is. But I guess I’ll wait. No other choice.

I’d try to replicate the problem in other machine, because relying on users feedback is not always the best choice. Try to install the program in a computer with a fresh install of the OS, and see what happens. It would be a good idea to test it on different OSes as well.

Carlosdl.
You’re absolutely right, I totally agree with all you say, and if I had those options available still I would do exactly that, but now I’m retired and have only one pc. up and running I do have probably 5 different versions of OSes but only one machine. Thanks for you’re your feed back.

You are welcome !

Remember that virtualization could help when you need to test software on different operating systems.
