Market climate for AS/400 administration career

I want to know is there any growth if i learn AS/400 administration and how's market because i was working in Call Center i wanted to move on Networking so some of my friends advised me to learn this. Please let me know and guide me to learn this also let me know how to prepare for interview.

As/400 for admin have very less oppening . & it's old Technology why you not try for websphere.

Old technology? That is a big myth that pervades in the System i world, from those who really don't know the platform and its capabilities, and who are still using an obsolete name. They're judging it by the older applications they see running on it But that is not an accurate assessment.

It is for this reason that the growth in the market is not as strong as it once was. Perception has become reality to many people who are then willing to trade away one of the most reliable and powerful server architectures in the industry to go along with what supposedly everyone else is doing, just because they think everyone else is doing it.

It's important to keep up with the latest advancements and incorporate them into application design, in order to avoid becoming comfortable and complacent. It is that too, which has led to the outdated perception of the System i (or IBM i) as being legacy technology. Far from it.
