What are the major differences between Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010? Is there a need to upgrade if we just did last year? We have Windows 7 on the desktop and office 2007. If there are big differences, we will want to upgrade. Is there a matrix somewhere? I could not locate one.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Try this…It’s the Wikipage, but it includes a section on added features (this would let you know how 2010 has changed from 2007.

Hope this helps!

Here’s another comparison: Office 2007 and 2010 comparison.  None of these answer the question. What was asked is an Outlook2007 vs Outlook2010. Most of the comparisons given focus other Office functinionality.

One feature that I love is the Calendar conflict. In 2007, when there is a conflict, it will only show how many conflict. In 2010, when there is a conflict, it will show who is actually conflicting.

    Hi,

The Outlook 2010 offers more calendaring features than Outlook 2007 and the following:
    1. Outlook 2010 can view others availability but Outlook 2007 cannot.

The default sharing permission is free/busy and users of Outlook 2010 can view others availability. However, users of Outlook 2007 will encounter error message "You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. See the folder contact or your system administrator."

    2. Outlook 2010 can adjust sharing permission before sending Calendar Sharing Invitation.

    • Outlook 2010: When you select Share Calendar, you can choose the followings before sending the Sharing Invitation:
      • Availability only
      • Limited Details
      • Full Details
    • Outlook 2007: When you select "Share my calendar..." with others, the default permission is Reviewer (Read Full Details). You have to "Change Sharing Permissions ..." after sending the invitation if you do not want others to view the full details.

    Hope this helps
