Major differences between i5 vs i7

I wanted to ask if there is a major difference between the i5 and i7. If there is a major difference then tell me what the differences are and which one should I prefer when buying a laptop. I also want to know which processor is preferred for which tasks. Dealing with Haswell here

    actually to me i5 is quite good enough. i7 is able to run faster and it cost more. for more informaiton check as below. can you also share what task do u have in mind to run?

    The i5 is fine for most people on a budget. Unless you are doing a lot of intense graphics, video editing or high-end games you do not need the i7. Personally I have an i3 that's about 2 years old and have not had too many things I cannot run.
