Hello, I am using Connect:Direct to send a file from our Mainframe to a Unix Server. My file contains French charcters, when the file is received on the Unix server, the French characters are changed to '3/4'. This is the codepage I am using on the from: SYSOPTS=":CODEPAGE=(IBM-037,IBM-819):type=binary" This is the codepage I am using on the To; SYSOPTS=":CODEPAGE=(fr_CA,fr_CA.UTF-8):datatype=binary" Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Harold

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Since it’s been awhile since this has been asked, I hope you have received an answer, but in case you have not….

What I found, transfering from MF to UNIX server, was that the CODEPAGE on the FROM was NOT needed. I only entered the CODEPAGE on the TO and got it to work properly. The actual parameter I used was:
SYSOPTS=”:CODEPAGE=(IBM-037,UTF-8):xlate=(yes)”

Hope this helps, if still needed.

    We have used the exact same codepage on the to side.  However, certain characters are being converted to a 2 byte string - i.e, - ebcdic B7 is converted to C2 BC.  We have attempted to use iso8859-1 instead of UTF-8 but are receiving this error "function iconv_open failed".  Is anyone familiar with this error?
