Answer Wiki:
last time i set 10mb on the exchange. ************* You have to keep in mind what the standard limits are to external accounts as well. We set our message limits to 50GB, however external accounts like Yahoo, Gmail etc have much lower limits, so although we can send large files internally we occasionally have to remind our users that the other end may have smaller limits and to adjust the size when sending externally.

I would suggest that you survey your users to find out what they would most often transfer and then base the number on that. If the file sizes get to large I would encourage the use of windows shares or FTP.

The standard can be defined by the users’ requirement. In our organization, we’ve configured 25MB as attachment size limit for internal mail flow and 10 MB for external (mail to or from Internet). Again for some finance peoples we’ve configured the attachment limit as 35 MB.

This you can do either through Exchange server or using any AV server.

Let me know if you need further help.

Cheers,
A

I have configured my server to 20MB. I like to take the stance that a users mailbox is not their personal filestorage and promote the use of other means to distribute large files. As a result we are able to offer unlimited mailbox sizes since their inboxes are not full of large attachments.
