crazyiness. Try adding the user in AD as another user but not with the same initials or gender as the user with incorrect user. Always allow the policy to re create the alias in exchange this will allow Outlook to update changes. Make sure nothing happens whilst doing this such as server or hard drive failure as this will corrupt the system and hackers will hack the main frame not good.

Hi, as you said rightly the name changes both in the AD and Mailbox but does not reflect in the outlook in-box.

You have come a long way.

All you need to do here is to go to Control panel – Mail – Email Account (email setup-outlook)
on the email tab click on the Exchange and click on change and clear the name and retype part of the original name and then click on the CHECK NAME and the name you so wished for now will pop up- the rest is an idiot approach.

You’ll need to update her Outlook profile.

Control Panel
Mail
E-Mail Accounts
View or Change existing Accounts

You can try to “change” the account – type in her username in place the her full name, and hit the “Check Name” button. It should complete her name… Then Next, and Finish. Not sure if this will be enough to update the name.

Otherwise, instead of “change”, click remove to remove the Exchange account, then Add it in again. You’ll need to have the Exchange server name, so if you’re not sure, check it in the ‘change’ step above.

The display name under the General tab is Gloria B.
Simple Display Name under the Exchange Advanced tab is blank.
Email address was always just her first name, so that didn’t have to change.

How do I remove and re-add the Exchange connection from her Outlook?
(Didn’t think it mattered before because I thought it was an AD and/or Exchange issue, but we run Citrix so her Outlook doesn’t run on her client PC.)

Regarding the GAL – I went to Exchange System Mgr, Recipients, All Global Address Lists, Default Global Address List (it’s the only GAL there). The properties for the Default GAL say that its last modification was 08/27/2005 !!!!! What the…?

Is it just the name in your Outlook – ie Mailbox – Gloria A?

If so, easy fix.

Remove the Exchange connection from her Outlook, and re-add it. Should be all set. Outlook doesn’t update the name other than when you’re creating the mailbox connection…

This is assuming you’ve changed her name and display name in AD.

You could try recreating her Outlook profile in which case.
Can you see her name correctly in the GAL ?
Does the old one show up at all?
