You should try to open a smtp connection to an external server (rules out firewall issue). Open a “cmd” window and enter in this command “telnet mx1.mail.yahoo.com 25″(type in quit to exit connection). Then you should make sure SMTP on exchange is running. This is found in the System Manager –> Administrative Groups –> you domain –> Servers –> your exchange server –> protocols –> SMTP. If there is a “Red Dot” on the Virtual SMTP server, right click and select start. If it does not start then there is a configuration issue.
