My Mac will turn on and the keys will light up and the Apple logo on the back will light up, but the screen remains black (sometimes it lights up about 1 second when I turn it on- no screen but just the backlight). I have tried the trick of shining a flashlight on the screen but there is no display. I tried resetting the PRAM, resetting the SMC, and entering in my password. None of it worked. Then I got the idea to hook up my Mac to my TV with HDMI. Now the screen that I'm seeing on my TV monitor is a black background with the Apple logo and and a loading bar. Nothing else. It (whatever it is) is only a tiny bit "loaded" and it hasn't increased even a tiny bit in the time that I've been sitting here waiting. The screen on my Mac is still black. Any ideas about what is loading or what I should do? Thanks in advance!!
I rebooted in Safe Mode, and at this point I can see my normal desktop on the TV monitor, and only a backlit black screen on my laptop. Could it be that I need a new LCD cable?
