Check which LPAR? The one that the command is running in? Check an LPAR for what? What OS is running in the LPAR?

What kind of system are you doing LPAR on? Is it capable of LPAR configuration? What OSes will be involved? (Host OS? Guest OS? HMC managed or something else?)

We need to know something about the environment. I have a couple AS/400s running V5R3, and nothing I do is going to make either them allow multiple LPARs unless I change the hardware. Steps to do LPARs on those systems may be very different from steps on your systems.
