Hi all, I have a great problem, after client upgrading from version 6.5.4 to 8.5.1, it is impossible to attach the automatically signature on every new message. The error message says that the signature isn't in an HTML properly format, but even if I insert only a simple text(not an HTML signature) it says the same error again. If I copy and paste the signature on my pc with the same lotus notes client version (8.5.1), this one is ok. What I have to do to solve this issue? I tried to uninstall the 8.5.1 client version and reinstall again the old version 6.5.4 but the problem is still there. I tried to upgrade again to version 8.5.1 and then I apply the fix patch 3 but even with 8.5.3 client the issue remains. Please help me, I don't know what to do to solve this one. Thanks a lot in advance. Best Regards to all. Matteo.

Software/Hardware used:
Microsoft windows XP, Lotus notes 8.5.1, migration from lotus notes 6.5.4

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you haven’t already, check your mail preferences, Mail – Signature tab. It may be that the radio button is no longer selecting Plain Text.
Another possibility of fixing it, though not rigorous, is to copy your signature out to clipboard (if it is lengthy), clearing it, turning off the signature and saving your preferences. Then go back in and reset it as expected, pasting the text back in. The multi-release jump may have “confused” some of the settings. Not a great solution, but effective occasionally, with a minimum of pain.

I ran into a problem when upgrading from Notes 6 to 8.5.3. The Signature screen changed, and suddenly my signature was not automatically appended. It was simply a matter of editing the Preference and resetting it. No reason why it should have changed but it did. But the nice thing with 8.5 is that I was able to create a Rich-Text signature in a Notes email or a word process... and copy/paste that signature right into the Rich Text field at the bottom of the Signature tab. No more having to open a rich-text file, edit it, and be sure it's in the right directory.

Hi all, I read your answers but my problem wasn't a problem of edit preference cause my signature window was ok, my signature in every format was not appended if I put the check on automatically sign every new message, but if I write a new message and then put it only in the new message, the signature was appended. In the end I solved this issue. The solution for me was to came back into mail template 6 with a replace design command, in this case lotus give me the chance to sign automatically every new message. In this template I put the check on automatically sign option and then I made a replace design into mail template version 8.5. The signature was again ok. Maybe there was an option that corrupted tha mail template in the migration, I don't know but this tasks gave me the solution. I want to remember that I saw all the option for the signature, plain, html, etc.. but even If I wrote a plain text, when I selected the option to automatically append the signature, always and I repeat always gave me the error mentioned above. Thanks to all for your interest in the matter. I hope that my experience could help anyone with the same issue.
