Backing up Lotus Notes 8.5 instant messaging

If I have not saved any of my instant messages.. then have been asked to save them to the server... are all of my past instant messesge retrieved and saved also?

    The simple answer is NO. If you are not saving the chats and the server is not set ie for Compliance purposes then no you cant get them back. Facetime can be used to archive / Journal Sametime messages of you can just backup the files place on your C: dirve if that is all you need.
