No I had not upgraded to the R6 Template - That does give me the indication of Unread Emails for my Folders.
However, as I still have v5.0.12 on my Desktop (v6.5.5 on my Laptop), I have had to revert to R5 until our IT people can upgrade my Desktop to v6.5.5.
Once done at least I will have some way of visualising the Folders in which I have Emails saved using the toggling of Read/Unread! - Thanks

The "Discover Folders" feature is new in v7 - As we are still rolliong out v6.5.5, I guess it will be some time before we have v7!

It seems you already upgraded to the R6 mail template. However, just do a replace design will not upgrade your personal folders to the latest design. You need to open your mailbox, select "Actions" --> "Upgrade Folder Design" to upgrade your personal folder design.

Or you can do it from your server console with the following command:
>load convert -u mail*

I don't have a quick answer to your question, but I wonder if you're using the standard/current mail template. Do you know how to check what mail template is currently applied to your database? Making sure it's current might help.

On the Database Properties for your mail database, go to the design tab. See if the Inherit Design from Master Template is on. If so, what template and version are listed...

Gary and DKoch67

Your suggestion would work for me at least as a guide.

BUT my Folder Tree does NOT show the Folders with unread Documents as bold and does NOT show a number of unread documents next to the Folder name either!

Is there some setting for controlling the indication of unread documents on the Folder tree?

FYI - I have so many Emails because I have found issues with Archiving - When you create an Archive all is is okay (you get Folders created and Emails filed in the Folders). However when you Archive subsequent Emails (at least for earlier versions of Notes) they all end up in the Inbox, not filed in Folders. Also any newly created Folders have to be manually added to the Archive as well.
So in short to be able to esily search my Emails without having to refer to multple Archives, etc. they are all in my Replica!

I do remove attachments though to save space!

Here's a low-tech method I learned a while back. If you are pretty current on reading your e-mails, you should have very few unread marks in your e-mail database. If you can get that number of unreads down to zero, this trick will work. (It may still work without zero unreads, but maybe not as well).

Find the document you want to investigate (probably in the All Documents view) and mark it Unread. Folders and views containing an unread will have their name appear bold. The All Documents view name will apprear bold, as will the folder name when you put this e-mail. You may have to drill down to the exact folder, but the bold names show you the way.

I realize it's not perfect and does require you to reduce the starting number of unreads in your mailbox, but it does work. Better than nothing.

Not ideal...but the following may help...

In ND7, IBM Lotus add a very useful feature called Discover Folder. It helps users locate which folder an e-mail is located in. Since this useful feature does not exist in ND6, here is a tip similar to this new feature.

First expand your folder (and subfolder) list. Then, under All Documents view (or other view you prefer), highlight your e-mail and then press "Insert" key.

Hitting the "Insert" key will switch an e-mail between Read and Unread. This Unread status will also be indicated by the number next to the folder.

By pressing the Insert key several times, you should be able to spot which folder the e-mail is located in.

This tip does not apply to Calendar events or Sent mail.
