lotus notes error: you are not authorized to perform that operation
Hi, I have a client who just migrated to outlook and yet he's using lotus notes to access some databases. However, he encountered this error : you are not authorized to perform that operation, when he tries to access the database he used to access before. Anyone knows how to solve this?

Software/Hardware used:
Lotus notes

Not enough details, like versions/OS, however, this cause might be occur if the current user id does not have access, by ACL to required .nsf database. or could not open due to absence of admin as he/she protects nsf for security reason and as he/she needs to secure data from unwanted/illegal  users. Another issue might be recently changed of thing that Mcfee  upgraded to their version virusscan 8.5i (depends if u r using). To overcome this issue, plz try this, but before doing this, plz and plz take all necessary backups of ur data first !!1st generate a new bookmark file using the user's notes id can resolve this issue. This can be done by renaming / deleting the bookmark.nsf in the data folder /directory and after that restart LN. Remember, the bookmark.ntf file must be present in the same folder. OR tell ur admin to reset ACL of the bookmark.nsf, and setting the user as manager.

We recently had the same thing happen.  Here's what it was (in case it's something similar for you):  The user was granted rights to the application via a group.  In other words, he was not listed specifically in the application's ACL.  There was a group in the ACL and the user was a member of that group.  When the person migrated to Outlook, his address in the group was changed from Joe User/Dept/Corp to joe.user@corp.com.  The result was that Joe User/Dept/Corp was no longer in the ACL via the group.  The solution for you, if this is relevant to you, is to somehow get his Notes ID back in the ACL.  You could enter him directly in the ACL, or add his Notes ID to the group.  HTH

What was used to migrate the user. Did this lock out the notes account or change access?
