Lotus Notes automatically sending email from the Draft Folder
Recently I am facing a strange problem with one of our users' local mailbox. We have Lotus Domino 7.0.2 (FP3) & Lotus Notes 7.0.2 installed. As reported by that user he has saved an inbound message into draft folder & partially edited the same and saved it to complete it later. But though he didn't send that message it had been transferred to the intended recipient automatically. I've personally checked that incomplete mail in the recipient's mailbox. Additionally that mail still belongs to the sender's draft folder and not moved to 'Sent' box. It's very strange situation...and I'm bit confused that if I'm missing some points to find out the root cause. Waiting for your suggestions/advice to resolve the issue. Thank you! I don’t think an upgrade is necessary. First I have questions. 1) is the mail template a standard unchanged version from Lotus? 2) Does that user have any rules running? If so, do any of those rules get triggered by this user being the sender or it being to the user he/she is sending to?

In over 14 years with the Lotus Notes environment I have never seen this occur – and I use drafts fairly often.

Thanks Mike for your response…
Answers of your questions…

1. No, it’s not the standard one. OpenNTF template is being used since 4 years, but this issue is cropped out very recently (though only one user reported this).

2. Yes, the only rule is set for “block sender list”.

Thanks for your responses and clarification. Love to see folks using stuff from OpenNTF. That being said, would it be prudent to move the user back to the standard Mail Template and run some tests? This would at least eliminate that as the issue. If it cannot be duplicated, then there is something wrong with Drafts in the OpenNTF template you are using. Maybe the developer would be willing to assist with tracking it down and rectifying it.

Hi Mike…Thanks a lot !

Moving back to normal templete is practically not possible in this case as our organizational document management system is also incorporated into it.

The most confusing part of this issue is…the same templete has been implemented through out the whole organization – almost 1200 clients, but only one of them has faced this problem twice. So what I feel – something is wrong with the Notes Client part.

Unfortunately I can not upgrade that particuler client to LN 8.x due to that OpenNTF templete.
