Lotus Notes 8.5 Replicator error: Invalid or nonexistent document
I am using a Lotus Notes 8.5.2 client on a Windows 7 computer in a corporate setting with a number of Domino servers, with two primary ones that I replicate between. I just recently had my OS upgraded from Windows XP. Nothing else changed, as far as I know, with my Lotus Notes (unless my user file locations changed, or something). I have my Replication settings on my mail file to replicate using one of the preferred servers and then choose among others if not successful. This worked fine (no error) before my OS upgrade. Now, I cannot replicate without getting the error message "Invalid or nonexistent document," and each time it indicates it's failed with the primary server. On top of that, when I go to view the Replication History, it indicates a successful "Send" action on the same server, but also lists "Never received" actions on the same plus other servers. I even successfully refreshed the design template from the primary server. But I still get the same Replicator error. Any thoughts as to what I, as a user without admin. rights, can do on my own? Or, must I contact my company's IT support? If the latter, any advice you might have that I could pass along to them? Thanks in advance for your help.

Software/Hardware used:
Lotus Notes 8.5.1 FP3 (client); Windows 7 Enterprise (32-bit); Lenovo ThinkPad X201 w/Intel i5 core

Are you using multiUser install or Single?

Thanks for your response, Gabe9527.

My company’s help desk tried to correct the problem by rebuilding my local mail files. But now all my contacts are gone, along with all my personal preferences/settings. In the end, I’m a bit worse off now then I was before I called in the problem. The fellow noticed that my local client was set up to connect to too many servers, so that’s now corrected. But it appears he did something to duplicate all my old Inbox e-mails. I can live with that, I suppose. But my original replication error is still there for the server he wants me to connect to. He couldn’t solve the porblem, and said he’d have to escalate it to the internal Lotus team support, so now I’m just waiting.

So, to answer your questions, the log contains events (including replication, with the error) from 5/11, when I first noticed the problems, followed by the next day (last Friday) when help desk tried to help, and today. And I believe I have a multi-user install.

SASMan,,,
In fact, I notice that Lotus Notes client 8.5.2 has got a lot of bugs and issues and I usually solve most of these bugs by either installing FP4 for this client or upgrading the client to 8.5.3 .. So, try that ,,, then make a new replica on the client …

I really hope it helps .

Thanks for your reply, Abusahd.

It appears that my company’s Lotus support team fixed the problem on the Domino side, as I am now longer experiencing the replication problem. I have not received a complete response from them yet, however, but the first line support mentioned it was “a software-related issue.” So, you’re guess is probably correct.

Once the second-line support replies with a clearer explanation and confirms that everything is working correctly I will update and close this discussion.

Thanks again, Abusahd and Gabe9527.
