Q:
Lotus Notes 8.0.2 Home screen message
One of our users is getting this message when is trying to open his mail when clicking on the Home Screen mail & calendar icon , the error dispalys as:

[strong]You are not authorized to perform that operation.[/strong]

I replace the mail design, checked on the ACL, re-install Lotus notes 8.0.2. I was able to add the mail icon that is located on the worspace into the taskbar and the user can open his mail this way, but not on the Home Screen.

thanks.

Software/Hardware used:

Assuming that the location document is pointing to the correct mail file and server but the problem persist try closing notes and deleting the following files from the installed notes data subdirectory:
cache.ndk
bookmark.nsf
desktop6 & 8( if present). ndk
Restart Notes

firstly ,,, make sure that the user do the following :

-File
-Security
- Switch ID
Then select the userID of the user and let him put the password ...

Moreover, click the button on the low right corner and select edit location and check if the configuratin is OK .

I had the same problem at a previous job and if I remember correctly, you have a (desktop)policy set up to use a certain template. You can etiher remove the policy from the person doc or create a new policy and see what happens.
