It could be a user's corrupt mail database (run fixup), or it could be a display driver problem. I believe Lotus switches the color palette to something different from Windows.

Try also to delete "cache.ndk" file in your lotus-notes-data directory
Close Notes first, of course ;-)

You can also do something …. you can un-install the Lotus Notes Client and re-install it .
