Lotus Notes 6.5.2 slow to open client, open mail document or ceate memo
Since i upgrade all my environment from Notes 4.6.7 to 6.5.2, a lot of my users experience slow response when they open Notes client, open mail document (15 seconds) or create memo I add compression for network data to there TCPIP port in there user preference and on all my servers. Since then it like day and night amelioration but some still have slow response. Event if they have a lot of memory or system resources.

Answer Wiki:
Have you upgraded the mail template for users' mail files? I'm no Notes expert, but I do recall hearing of performance problems, after an upgrade, if the template each mail database uses is backleveled....

Have you already run a compact job on all your user mailbox in order to upgrade the ODS structure too ?

Also try deleting the cache.ndk file from the local Notes data directory. Re-launch the client, (the cache file will be re-created) and then compact the workspace. I have found that this usually improves the performance of the client.

Also when you go to compact the workspace increase the cache size. I, for example have mine set at 50MB.

We found slower response with the new Notes 6.0.2 cf1.

We found that new hard drives were much faster than our old SAN. We have also been extremely stable since moving off the SAN. You might check your hard drive speeds.

Our set up includes a home drive for the Notes data files and we were concerned that would be a problem but it was more related to the calls to the server and the SAN. We have 6000 users on two clustered servers…

After the upgrade, we did have our LAN ops folks delete ALL cache.ndk files one time. That helped clear out some old forms and reduced the network traffic as well.
