Hi, I have a Lotus Domino server which has a database that sends automated emails. I also have another Domino server that has an Exchange 2003 Connector to send emails to the Exchange. The Exchange 2003 Connector is also used to route emails to the Exchange 2007 environment. Now that we have completed the migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007, I have been tasked with decommissioning the Exchange 2003 environment. But before I can do this, I need to configure SMTP routing from the Domino servers to the Exchange 2007 servers. Is there a way to do this without having to install the Microsoft Exchange Transporter Suite? Thanks for your help. Yags

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You don’t need Exchange to route Domino mail via SMTP. You can set up Domino server to route mail via SMTP.

The following link (below high-level instructions) contains more detailed instructions:

1. Prepare your system for sending messages to the Internet by testing your Internet connection and verifying that DNS is set up properly.
2. Enable SMTP routing within the local Internet domain so that servers can send mail over SMTP within the local Internet domain.
3. Enable SMTP to be used to send messages outside the local Internet domain.
4. Specify the SMTP relay host to be used to direct emails. If needed, configure a relay host for SMTP servers that do not have direct access to the Internet.
5. Set up inbound and outbound mail restrictions to protect against misuse of the mail infrastructure.

Remember, test, test, test.

or set Domino up to route to the Exchange server via a foreign Domain document. Check out the Domino Help - it explains it well.
