Scenario: Lotus Domino Server 6.52 shop, Palm Treo 650 Smartphones (Palm OS 3.5). Trying to determine if Lotus Domino Everyplace is a solution for us to access Notes e-mail and calendar from the Treo 650 phones. Understand we need the Domino Everyplace client. 1) What is needed on the server side? 2) Is Domino Server sufficient for the server side? 3) Do we need to purchase and have running Domino Everyplace Enterprise Server or any other additional product? 4) Does Domino Everyplace come with Domino Server? If so then do we just need a Domino Everyplace license for each phone? 5) Does the Domino Everyplace solution require the user's desktop to be up and running for the phone to access e-mail? Thanks for your help, Mike

You can use Domino Everyplace, but I would not recomended it, Try looking into Good Technology solution for your wireless email.

Good Last time I checked didn't have a Software package for Domino yet, they were still working on it. The way we went for the Treo 650 is we got it form Cingular and they have a xPress mail package that works great. Back to your question about Domino Everyplace Enterprise Server. When we looked into it a year ago Domino Everyplace Enterprise Server was free from IBM (you had to pay for the CDs to get shipped to you or download with you passport acct.) but you had to pay for the clients I forget the price, but I believe it was under $100.00 each and no the users desktop doesn't have to be on it is a server package that is install on the same server as Domino.

take a look at commontime mNotes (www.commontime.com) 1 - you just install it on the server and run it in "enterprise mode" 2 - yes 3 - no 4 - it's licensed on a per-user basis. not per-server. 5 - no minimally, you'll have to install the mNotes on each palm treo, and install mNotes server on the domino server. then, if you have a wireless connection, you can sync with your domino server. you could also install an mNotes server on each desktop, and people can sync with their clients when they hotsync with their desktops.

I still believe that you wait for either Good Technologies or go with another vendor, such as RIM, the IBM solution is not something I would recoment at this point because the rol-out issues and the licensing with the mobile notes stuff. Our test for Good has been very satifactory, not the same as Blackberry , but they are makng progress. Specially with the new Motorola Q device... If you want I have a presentation on Good that I can send you. Personal email is CarlosHern@gmail.com

I just got a Treo 700w and Commontime mSuite. www.commontime.com It is quite easy to set up and they supply you with some great DB to get started, of course e-mail and calendar and all the usual functions of Lotes are transferred to your Palm too. Worth looking into. Regards, A.
