TechTarget will soon be launching a new feature on enterpise voice, and I'd like to get your feedback about what areas we should focus on. What type of information on VoIP or IP telephony would help you most? Are you looking for info on whether you should move to VoIP, or are you more interested in implementation or management issues? Is hosted VoIP of interest to you? Please me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance! Susan Fogarty, Editor, SearchNetworking.com

VoIP enables you to make and receive phone calls over your BROADBAND line. VoIP works with your existing telephone?you can even keep your phone number. The difference? You get more?including unlimited long distance, voicemail, and must?have features for managing calls-for less than you're paying for phone service now. VoIP uses an adapter that plugs into your modem and your phone, and that's that: You can make and send calls just as you always have, but with a little more money in your wallet. Will I get the same voice quality I get from traditional phone service? Yes. VoIP providers use a dedicated network with VQ Technology that assigns a higher priority to voice calls than to data. That means even when you're surfing the Internet, you're assured of high voice quality. Also, the telephone adapter helps ensure that there's plenty of bandwidth for your calls even while you're online. Some features like; Voice-mail, call waiting, call forwarding, and many more are all included in one low monthly rate.

For basic VoIP connectivity you can download Skype free of charge from www.skype.com. A simple headset will cost you a few pounds (Euros, dollars ...) - then you can use your existing broadband connection to speak to other Skype users free of charge, or conventional phones at a reasonable rate.

As a Company VoIP is it being widely used in the UK? Will we make savings in the UK. Or is it still knew, companies are still slow to make the change. I was led to believe it would only be beneficial to companies that have offices or departments spread over large areas or Nationwide, and many home workers. If consolidating to one site, would there be ROI especially if calls are National rather than International. A few answers would be of great help... Cheers
