We've started adding VMWare servers to our data center, and we need a backup solution that works. We'll have a mix of ESX4.0 and ESX3.5 hosts along with vCenter 4.0. Host will have Windows 2003, Windows 2008, RedHat 4.x and 5.x. Some hosts will have MS SQL 2005 and Oracle DB. We have TSM deployed but it needs major upgrade (v5.3.1).
I am looking at VDR, VCB and third party softwares like Veeam and esXpress. What are your experiences and recommendations? What's your experience with TSM backup with or without VCB?
Software/Hardware used:
Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Red Hat 4.x and 5.x, MS SQL 2005 and Oracle DB

This question was discussed in the LinkedIn Cloud Computing, VMWare, Virtualization and Enterprise 2.0 Group.
TSM also offers its own inbuilt backup of Virtual Machine Images using VMWares VCB
We are using Avamar from EMC, great dedupe rates, excellent restore times.
Unitrends supports VMware and actually has a free trial version you can download. Their all-in-one backup appliance includes software so you only have one vendor, and provides backup and disaster recovery that starts at $2495 ($75 per month with a three-year lease).
