Hi all, I am ABAP and Basis trained consultant working with a reputed IT Company. I have been working on both for last 10 months now, but now I have to choose one of these options since i am going on a new project. Kindly suggest me which field should I choose where I can find better growth and opportunities. Thanks & Regards A.N.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It all depends on your IT background. 10 month is not enough for either in Abap or in Basis. If you have hardware knowledge and installation of software you may better choose Basis. In abap you have to cover lot topics and it will take 2 to 3 years for get mastered in Abap.

First questions that I would ask my self is..... Do I want to do ABAP coding or would I rather do Basis support (ie, Install, setup, patch upgrades, db work, ect....) That would be the way that I would look at it. I have been doing Basis work for the past 4 years as a consulant. Basis people are all way's needed but are payed normally less the good ABAP dev. ABAP dev tend to specialize in a functional area (ie IS-U/CCS, IS-O, FICO, HR, act...) and can make more.
