we have two dns but after installed second dns we face logon problem in domain through winxp pro,the user login on his pc into the domain he can't...give us the proper solution thans

It would help if you had provided a little more information. When you say "after installed the second dns" do you mean "after the second DNS server was installed on our network" OR do you mean "after the windows xp pro station was configured for a second DNS server" ? You also need to tell us what kind of DNS servers they are. Traditional Unix/Linux (BIND), Standalone Microsoft DNS, Integrated with Active Directory? Are they also PDC's or BDC's, etc. I would guess you're probably talking Active Directory - since the XP user can't log in - but there are many other variables. Is there a possibility that you have two A/D controllers for the same domain which don't talk to each other? Without that information, I wouldn't even try to speculate on where the problem might lie. thanx for reply, actully before i have one integrated with active directory dns server and its also pdc,but i installed another dns in the same network after this dns we face login problem in winxp, when the user try to login on his pc to domain he canb’t, but after 30 to 40 min he can login.and i face this problem more then 10 winxp workstation, ihope u understand what i mean

Ok – once again, I’m on shaky ground (California) or thin ice (Minnesota)… :-)

But – some questions are in order…

For the A/D Domain in question, which DNS server is primary for the login zone? The A/D server or the added server?

If the new server is a secondary for the A/D domain, is it authoritative?

What is the zone time-out for refresh? I wonder since you said something about 30-40 minutes delay.

Does the secondary server forward (or redirect) dynamic DNS updates to the primary server (If they are allowed at all)?

Is the new server listed first or second in the DNS order for the XP workstations?

Have you tried capturing any sniffer traffic of a failed login to see what’s happening?

If you can provide answers to these, it should help all of us to get a better handle on this problem.
