Log in taking up to 5 minutes at remote locations
We have a system that when I look at it locally (on the same LAN as the machine) it logs in quickly and I do not see any issues with performance via WRKSYSACT or WRKACTJOB but when remote locations log in from time to time they get wait times of up to 5 minutes? It is mostly random but almost every day at 9:00 am to 9:30. V5R4 machine. Any ideas?

Possible high network usage. Might as well try to check during peak and non peak time to see the difference

A couple of things to check. On the remote PC’s, if you are using iSeries Access, check that the port is set to “Standard”.

Also, check what happens at logon time. Do you have a lot of users logging on at the same time causng a number of job starts all at once ?
