My standard Dell PC with Windows XP has produced the following error for the last 4 business days: "Cannot import Local.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can import only registry files." If I reboot the PC then the error does not occur. Can you fix this problem?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You can start by using Windows search, to find Local.reg. Make sure to include system folders, hidden files and folders, and subfolders in your search. When you find it, you may want to open it in Notepad, just to see what’s in it, although this is not necessary. You DO need to rename the file, to something like –Local.reg

Shut down and restart your computer. Hopefully, your problem will be gone.

I hope this helps.
