How are the server and client supposed to communicate with each other? I take it that the server is configured with a static IP address, as this is the recommended configuration. What about the client, is it configured with a static IP or DHCP? Have you confirmed that both the server and client are configured for the same network subnet?

Like Bryan3473 asked, is a domain/Active Directory present?

You shouldn't really be sharing anything from the client, so I would not modify the firewall settings just yet. If possible, provide the TCP/IP configuration for both the server and client so that we can see it and be of better assistance. To obtain this information, run "ipconfig /all > config.txt" on the server and client. Config.txt is just a sample name, feel free to use whatever name you want.
