Currently using a Lexmark X850e multifunction printer/scanner/fax/etc. The problem is that a password got set on the machine without calling IT support and that "nobody" seems to know what the password on the machine is. Does anybody know the process for resetting to defaults on this particular machine? Process for a Lexmark X422 does not seem to work with this machine.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

One of my HellDesk monkeys got on the horn with Lexmark for me (I think he wants a promotion):

1.) Turn the printer off.

2.) Hold numbers 2 and 6.

3.) Turn the power on.

4.) Wait.

5.) Wait some more. You’re still holding 2 and 6, mind you.

6.) Finally you’ll get a menu of things to reset/”restore.” Release 2 and 6 now (at last). Restore Factory, and under that Restore Network.

7.) If you aren’t using DHCP, you’ll probably have to go in and re-input these settings, and re-set the password if your problem is a forgotten password. But at least now you CAN change this stuff.
