Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If the printer is plugged in correctly and powered on and the computer still doesn’t see it, try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software at least six times and it still will not work. I even went and bought a new usb cable - will not work. I have a second notebook to experiment with and I tried it - to no avail. So, it creates the same problem. Maybe time to junk this Lexmark 323? I appreciate help before I tash it.

If you've tried to re-install the drivers (eliminating the drivers as the cause of the issue), tried replacing the cable (eliminating the cable as the cause) and replaced the computer (as evidenced by your statement that you have tried to use a notebook system to connect to the printer as well as the original (desktop???) system, the only other variable is the printer itself. One thing that comes to mind: did you make any changes to the original system hardware or software immediately prior to the printer issues you are encountering? If so, were the same or substantially similar changes made to the notebook? If yes, try backing out that change and see if the printer then works. Does the printer power on at all (I would assume it does, since you didn't mention that it does not.......)? Can you see it in Device Manager? Have you tried a different USB port, and does it make a difference? Have you tried a different device on the USB port, and does it work? If, after all above steps have been tested /verified (and you may have already done this - you don't mention in your post), the printer still does not work, it may be time to retire it.
