We are wanting to generate laser checks. Where can I find the DDS specs required to generate the MICR codes (fonts & special characters) that print at the bottom of the checks?
We do not want to purchase any additional software for printing of MICR information.

You will need to have the MICR font and MICR code page loaded on your system i5 along with the MICR capable printer. The fonts are available from a number of sources.
Assuming that your laser printer is capable of handling AFP (Advanced Forms Printing) you may want to consider using overlay, pregenerated on PC, then download to AS400. There are 3rd party products that handle fonts/forms generation also.
I handle all my laser forms through AFP. If you have questions re: AFP call IBM support and they will send you *.pdf with specs. One more thing: I found iSeries Navigator to be by far best method to download overlays.
