A WAN is a Wide Area Network. This is used when you have multiple offices that need to be connected.

Your LAN is your local, on-site network, and the WAN is the inter-connections of different sites.
Both are hugely beneficial to any business: Your LAN allows you to share files, data, printers and other resources with multiple users, the WAN connection lets you send and receive Internet traffic, allows clients / customers to reach you easier and gives you a way to connet 2 or more geographically distant locations…
