 Generating journal receivers every 15 minutes or so
what would cause a journal to generate receivers every 15min or so, and would this utilize a lot of disk space?

When you setup the Journal, you specified how large it should get before it automatically does a CHGJRN. It it is changeing every 15 minutes, you are doing a lot of activity to this file. Yes, this can take up a lot of disk space. You need to look at those receivers and find out what program is causing this to happen.

What kind of journal is it? Different journal types will have different entries from different causes.
