AS/400 queue
One of our AS/400 users deleted some message queues. I want to find who deleted them. We did not setup security auditing. Please tell me if  there's any way to find out who deleted the message queues. Thanks!

Do you have a suspect in mind? If so check their job logs, you may find some info there. Also how were they deleted? Is there a menu option or was it via command line access? Command line access is not a good idea for normal users. They can cause a lot of damage if there is no security.

Joblogs are the only reasonable possibility, but seems pretty unlikely. Why keep joblogs without audit records? They take space and can be faked relatively easily. If no security auditing is done, the system is doing as it's told and doesn't keep track. Users shouldn't have authority to delete message queues that don't belong to them. Command-line access isn't an issue if object authorities reject the request. And if system security is inadequate, command-line access isn't the biggest hole trouble can get through. . Tom
