Right now the economy has made the job market tight even for those with experience and qualifications.
One way to get experience without “having a job” is to volunteer for a non-profit organization. They always need help and “Built/upgraded network for Susan G. Komen Greenville office” looks real good on a resume. Of course you would elaborate as to what type how many workstations & servers etc. If you did a good job you would have a reference too.
The whole career depends on your work ethic and how well you deal with others in additional to your technical skills.
