Im about to do the course and exam as well, at the very least it will look nice and shiny on your cv, but it generally outlines scalable best practice for IT in organisations. Cant really explain it too much but here we use change management quite alot.
It seems that alot of companies are either using it now or are looking into it so I think it is a good idea to at least get the jist of it.
