Hi,

I have iTera HA 5.0 installed. While doing the regular check on DR box,in Mirrored Object Maintenance screen ,I find one object LOCK1191 in Lib DBSLIB is not being journalled. On checking the status of DBSLIB on production box,the status shows SYNCING.But this status remains as it is for last 2 days   .

How do I make sure that LOCK1191 is being journalled. Can I take [strong]'R=Resync' [/strong]option on DR box against this object?I am pasting below the screenshot of this object on DR Box:

  Type options, Press Enter.                                      L=WRKOBJLCK  A=Toggle Allocate  C=Chg Options  S=Set Sts to Sync  R=Resync  U=Update Sts                             Filtering I/O: O                    O=Object Dsc     Position                  Y   *   *                                                                  -  Status - Re-Sync Allocate                   Opt Library    Object    Typ Jrn Snc Omt Status  State   Library/Journal        DBSLIB   LOCK1191  D       Y               *OFF-NO  THAA1JRN/A1JRND

Thanks

Hughes

We've just upgraded to version 6.0 so I'm not able to compare apples to apples, but from what you've posted it looks like syncing is turned off on that item. Could you post that again using the 'code' button for the screen shot?

Thank you Splat. That issue with object LOCK1191seems to have been resolved but I am facing another issue. On the E2KG Monitor Screen,I see ER with OBJSNCSTS and LIBSYNC Test.On further analysis(checking the lib sync status) I see there is one Lib UKDATA which is showing status Saving for last 3 days .It is because of this problem that the E2KG Screen shows ER with OBJSNCSTS and LIBSYNC..The other libraries in the Lib Sync Status Screen show Syncing. Can you please let me know if this is an issue? It is now 3 days and the status is till Saving. Thanks Hughes

Yeah, 3 days of 'saving' means something isn't right. I'd suggest ending then restarting the iTera subsystems on the primary and backup machines. Let everything catch up, then see if your UKDATA library is in the same state. I seem to recall having a similar problem. If memory serves, I ended up removing it from the assigned journal (X, Y, Z options? They've changed in V6.0) then re-adding it. See what re-starting the subsystems does for you.

Thank you Splat. The iTera subsystem itself ends before the daily backup and then starts at 3AM thru job scheduler.I am working on the second method suggested by you that i s 'adding and removing it from the assigned journal.' On another note, yesterday the storage level increased drastically to 96%.At that time I could not see any extract job running on the system. After the developers cleared some files and storage was brought down I did an outfile of all journals in user libraries. What I saw was that there were around 160 GB of Journals created on the system the previous night. I have a question here: 1. Is there a way on the AS400 system/iTera to check at any point of time if large Journals are being created .This would be very helpful because if it is caught there and then, the storage level would not go to such a large extent. Also if the storage is on the rise we can check if this is happening due to journalling.Any specific iTera menu or iTera job which will help locating this. Thanks Hughes

Hughes, you should have a job schedule entry for a XPJRNMGT job on both systems. This is iTera's journal management job, and is responsible for cleaning up old journal receivers. If you don't have a job schedule entry for this on one or both of your systems you can either dig through the iTera manuals or open a call with Vision. You might want to do a bit of work with the options on the journal maintenance menu. I don't know how many journals you're using, but if you've got one that's massive it might be a good idea to create one or more new journals & redistribute the replicated libraries to get a bit more balance. BTW, if you do much of anything with file member manipulation, you might want to stay away from V6.0. We upgraded from V5.0 to V6.0 & it's done nothing but play merry Hell with some of our procedures since. Vision knows what's going on - I've sent them rather a lot of screen shots - but they've been less than forthcoming with a solution.
