Items disappeared on network protocols and services tab
The following question was submitted to SearchWindowsSecurity.com by a user: I'm having a serious problem with Windows NT. I put two PDC Windows NT in the network to try to demote one to BDC, but I forgot to change the IP of the first, so they conflicted. Since this, the items on the tab of network protocols and services has disappeared. When I try to install the TCP/IP protocol, Windows sends a message saying that the protocol already exists. I don't know what to do to make the items appear again. Please, help me!

Something like this can take a lot of frustrating time to troubleshoot which may prove futile in the end anyway. The simplest thing might be to reinstall Windows if you can - especially if you haven't gotten too far in the process of setting up the server.

Disconnect your troublesome server from the network, and reboot on the last known good, this should restore the view on the protocol list and perform your upgrade fix from there.
