Hi,
Other than a BSEE, I have no certifications at all. I currently have a very successful consulting career, working with C-Level executives in very large enterprises, and no certifications have been and are required. The only things that are required are 1) a detailed knowledge of how IT works; 2) Experience doing the kind of work that hire me to do; 3) References.
I hope this helps.

IT certifications sometimes get a bum wrap when people earn them and think it will be their golden ticket to success in IT. My view on IT certifications is that, when combined with real world experience and an advanced degree, they build your confidence, make you more effective, and aid in overall marketability. -TechTalker
I am not going to tell u a long story about MS, better u look at these :
MS certs overview and MS certs by name
I have at least 6 microsoft certifications including 3 MCSEs. I also have certifications in Novell and have worked with Compaq, Dell, HP, Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, Acme Packet, Radvision, Tango Networks and many more. Most of my software is Microsoft including NT 4.0, Win2K, 2003, 2008, SCOM, MOM, SQL, Exchange, Lync etc.
I think more important are the degrees BS in Info System, MBA and the Extracuricular experience (Technical writer/Editor McGraw-hill publishing, Microsoft) and College level Instructor (3 colleges) and ITIL/MOF training
Do you think these certifications have has an impact on your career?
