 Issue with HMC backup
AS/400 administration, HMC V6.1
Hi This is my first trail ......I followed the following process to take backup for the HMC... From HMC Software Maintainance ---> HMC---->Backup critical console data---->backup to DVD on local system. Here I am getting problem with media and giving error like not a compatable disk. Also asking for a farmat the DISK. For this activity I used normal DVD(4.5 GB). Is it required any particular compatabale disks or any IBM supplied Please suggest. Thank you, Krish

Yes use DVD-RAM disk .Some time you will have the problem in few brand DVD .So check and use the correct one.

If your HMC is like mine, you need to use DVD-RAM not regular DVD. Check the specifications.

use DVD-RAM Type 2, 4.7 GB, i faced the same issue, but this DVD type worked, fine.

first you want to foramt the media before taking HMC backup. even though it is fresh media. so first fromat it and then try for backup. it will happen
